Do audited firms have better access to credit?: Evidence from emerging countries

This study aims to examine the relationship of having financial statements audited by external auditors and access bank credit, using data from Business Environment Enterprise Performance Survey (BEEPS). Among firms credit access, this research further analyses impacts auditing on loan value, rate, term (duration) applying Heckman two-step models with sample selection. Results show that have better formal than their counterparts. these, obtain bigger lower rates shorter borrowing duration, as compared non-audited firms. are robust when Propensity Score Matching.
